There are a couple changes to the flyer for the Nordic DH race June 19-20. We will be running TWO timed runs on each day to accomodate anyones schedule. Also, if anyone has seen the flyer saying lift will be on Sunday from 10-12pm, that is wrong it will be run from 10-4pm each day.

Well, it has definitely been a while since our last update. That doesn't mean we have not been riding our bikes or building trails. We did our fair share of traveling last year, Snowshoe, Diablo, Windrock, and many other less known riding spots. The Subura Cup did very good last year with attendance the highest yet, and yes a faster lift ride to the top. Thanks to Rick for putting in a variable speed lift.
We are really looking forward to the coming 2010 year. Plans for the Subaru Cup DH race are getting finalized right now and it will be awesome. Someone even has a new ride for this year, and maybe I will even straighten my wheel!

We, Riven Downhill, will be scaling back our trail work at Nordic Mtn for 2009. We have put in 4 trails (the type of trails which we like to ride). We understand that everyone has their own idea of what they want in a trail and would like to invite some others to continue growing the trail system at Nordic Mtn.
If this interests you, please talk to Rick (the owner of Nordic) and express your intentions. He can be reached here. He has all ready shown interest in running the chairs for the 2009 season.

Saturday October 18th will be the last Freeride Day at Nordic MTN for the 2008 season. We hope you will all come join us from 12:00 to 5:00 to show the owner there is hope for Lift Access Freeriding in the Midwest.

The date for the second Freeride day at Nordic Mtn. is set. August 2nd, 2008 from 12:00 to 5:00. Lift tickets will be $20. All trails will be open for riding. We hope to see you there. Check the Nordic Bike Park page for more info.

We went up to Marquette MI for the superior bike fest. Friday we rode the mountain for fun, Saturday for the race. They are really starting to get some good trails built. As long as they stick to the schedule and run the lifts when they are suppose to they should have a pretty good year.
It was worth the 4hr drive each way to ride even though Andy crashed pretty hard during practice Saturday and dnf'd his race runs, Troy turned in an impressive 9th place finish. Hopefully we will make it up there again for another weekend of riding.
Also, a huge thanks to Quickstop Bike for fronting the cash to the hill in order to make it happen.

So another race has come and gone, thanks to everyone who came out to the WORS Subaru Cup for the Nordic Mtn DH. A huge thanks goes to Don and the WORS crew for running such an excellent event and letting us have the DH, to Rick for hosting the event and letting us build the trails, to Chad, Bill, Troy and Dave for all the time they put in building trails with/without me, and also to the great sponsors who supported our race with product (Crank Brothers, EVS, E-13 Components, Arrow Racing, Titec, Hayes Bicycle Group, and Nema). If you went home from the race with some of the product from the sponsors, please take a few seconds to drop the company who supported us with the product you recieved an e-mail and let them know you appreciate their support of the Nordic Mtn DH.
For anyone looking for more, the Superior Bike Fest is in Marquette, MI this coming weekend (June 21st). The chairs will also be running Friday evening, June 20th, from 4 till 8. If that still isn't enough, we will be working with Rick from Nordic Mtn on setting a date in July for another day of lift access at the hill.

We worked Friday and Saturday at Nordic (m00ch stayed the night). We have 4 trails ridable, 2 DH and 2 Freeride. Sure, we wish we were farther along but 4 guys can only do so much in 3 days. Thanks again to those who braved first the snow, then the rain to get everything done that is done for the 26th. Here are the updated pics (click here)

We (4 of us who braved the snow) began trail work at Nordic Mtn. today. There are pics of what we have started HERE. We are still planing on the weekend of the 26th for the first freeride day at Nordic. We are on schedule to have three trails done by then, 2 dh runs and 1 freeride trail with some elevated trail features. We hope to see you there! March 28th, 2008

The Nordic MTN DH (part of the WORS Subaru Cup) was this past weekend. Dispite the 48 hours of rain the event went quite well. This was the first year at this location and we are really looking forward to a great year in 2008.

We just came back from the Superior Bike Fest in Marquette, MI. Two of us competed in the DH and finished the weekend off with some freeriding on Bensons Grade.

Three of us have just returned from the US Open at Diablo Freeride Park. We had a great weekend of riding with the guys from High Gear Racing. No injuries to mention, which is allways a plus.

Riven Downhill has agreed to volunteer and help WORS (Wisconsin Off Road Series) with the 2007 Subaru Cup. We will be volunteering our services as the downhill course designers and race directors. We will also be sponsoring the kids downhill again. The event is scheduled for August 17-19, 2007, at Nordic Mtn. in Mount Morris Wisconsin. there are going to be some major changes to go along with the new venue and are really looking forward to a great race weekend.

Devils Drop Kids Race
Riven Downhill sponsored the first kids downhill race ever in the state of Wisconsin. Kids 12 and under, the youngest of which was 3, got a free chance to be the "fastest on the mountain". Twelve kids took one timed run each down the course which was laid out especially for them, and negotiable with training wheels for the youngest. If the smiles on their faces were any indication, they enjoyed it as much as we did.
We are anxiously looking forward to sponsoring next years kids race.

"Slick conditions may have prohibited participants from attaining the speed they crave, but the overall course, design by race director, Andy Fisher and the Riven Downhill crew continued to receive rave reviews. A record 94 racers (up 50% from 2005) practiced and raced the three quarter mile long wooded course of rock gardens, double jumps, drops, log crossing and tight turns. Starting at the top of Chair double zero, the Devil’s Drop course ended near the Subaru Cup Expo Area. These adrenaline junkies competed in four classes: Open, Intermediate, Novice, and Women with the fast time of the day, one minute fifty-three and six tenths seconds turned in by Phil Ott hailing from Fontana, WI."
